Funding
The Gulf Coast Roadmap

This proposal is titled "A Roadmap for Restoring Ecosystem Resiliency and Sustainability" and is composed by the Louisiana-Mississippi Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Working Group.  Note that this request is IN ADDITION TO MsCIP and THREE other multi-million dollar restoration programs allocated to the MS-LA area since 2005.  There have been many smaller programs funded in that area as well.

An excerpt from the Roadmap proposal to justify additional and immediate funds:

"Many of these projects are still quite a long way off from implementation, demonstrating that the implementation process may simply be too lengthy to deal with the urgency of the coastal situation."

Another excerpt, referencing smaller-scale projects, since the large-scale projects have not yet been implemented:

"These projects are not necessarily meant to provide large-scale restoration or sustainability functions. Rather, they are meant to serve as an interim response to prevent damage beyond a “point of no return” so that future projects – selected on the basis of a shared long-term vision – will have a better chance of success."

Let's see...they are seeking an "interim solution" because of the "urgency of the coastal situation" to avoid a "point of no return" scenario.  Sound familiar?
