The Crisis Areas
Photos of Overwash

The extensive overwash evident in these photos illustrates the threat of full, north-south breaching of the island, smaller versions of the mile-wide Katrina Cut.  If steps are not taken to prevent further overwash, breaches could cut off portions of the West End from the rest of the island.  This affects south shore and north shore residents alike.  If Bienville Blvd is severed, there is no access to houses and lots west of the breach points.
